10 Points of Truth

Truth Hunter Bible Cover 2In a recent public speaking engagement (a church) my eye was drawn to a man’s Bible cover. It spoke volumes to me. In my role as preacher or public speaker I am called on to teach and/or engage others for the Gospel and missions. And then there are those wonderful moments when the speaker is challenged and inspired!
I took a picture of the Bible cover and I filed it away to share with you later. Why? Because Truth Hunters embodies what Christians ought to be. In far too many cases, Christians approach the Word in order to find out if IT agrees with THEM. There are colorful ways to say how backwards that is!
No one can improve on God’s Word. We simply have to subject ourselves to it. To that end, I offer you the following 10 points. There may be an observation as well. You’ll be able to tell the difference. After all, the messenger is never as important as the message of Truth. That’s true if one is a public speaker, preacher, or blog writer!

Soli Deo Gloria!

Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; For You I wait all the day.

How often do we want to be led by popular opinions?

For Your lovingkindness is before my eyes, And I have walked in Your truth.

Is His Truth always in our sight, or is it conventional wisdom?

You, O LORD, will not withhold Your compassion from me; your lovingkindness and Your truth will continually preserve me.

Do we look to be preserved by Divine Truth or our Facebook friends?

For Your lovingkindness is great to the heavens and Your truth to the clouds.

His truth is infinite.

I will also praise You with a harp, Even Your truth, O my God; To You I will sing praises with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel.

Genuine praise is rooted in the truth of Who He is and what He has done.

Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name.

To walk in His Truth requires a healthy fear (reverence; awe) for His name.

Not to us, O LORD, not to us, But to Your name give glory because of Your lovingkindness, because of Your truth.

He doesn’t have truth, He is truth. Therefore, He is worthy of ALL praise.

I will bow down toward Your holy temple and give thanks to Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word according to all Your name.

Understanding the value of His Word will bring thanksgiving.

As it is written in the law of Moses, all this calamity has come on us; yet we have not sought the favor of the LORD our God by turning from our iniquity and giving attention to Your truth.

If we don’t seek Truth, what happens? Sin!

For I was very glad when brethren came and testified to your truth, that is, how you are walking in truth.

Walking in Truth is essential to being an effective witness.
