Missing But Fixable!

It seems there are always missing pieces of one sort or another. We have questions about life or work. So information is the missing item. We often find ourselves looking for a tool we don’t have or an ingredient for a new recipe. But like the cover image and the post title, these things are fixable. And when it comes to Christian living and ministry, there is always something missing. I call it the Opportunity Zone.

Missing: Faith Matters

missing puzzle pieceAccording to Hebrews 11:6-7, pleasing God requires faith. And faith can only be exercised if there are things we do not know – the missing piece(s) God hasn’t shown us. We trust Him for those unseen things. Let me give you an example.

I recently had a chat with a friend who leads his church’s mission committee. One Sunday morning he announced an EquipUs mission opportunity. After the service concluded, 4 people told him they sensed God’s call to be part of that mission. And three of them asked for prayer concerning their mission expenses.

Faith - road signBefore he got out of the worship center, three other people stopped him. Each of them expressed regrets at not being able to personally take part in that mission. And each of them let him know they would be glad to help fund a person who was able to go. That three-legged chair was fixed before anyone knew it was broken!

I don’t remember whether I got that phone call on Sunday (the day it happened) or on Monday. Either way, he didn’t waste much time giving God the glory for what was done and sharing the chain of events. And I am sharing it with you for two reasons.

One striking thing about that story is the obedience of people who had questions but responded positively to the leading of the Spirit. We exercise faith in the face of the unknown – the missing things. That is our opportunity. But when we do that, it then becomes God’s opportunity to reveal Himself as the answer to our every need. Hebrews plainly states He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. And seeking to please Him and seeking His glory should be primary concerns for us.

Today, there are other opportunities that need a little faith. We have a mission volunteer – not one mentioned above – in need of Helping Hands. I have great confidence in two things. First, a servant is responding to the Spirit’s leading. Second, I am confident God will provide for what He has called His servant to do. How will that happen? That’s one of my missing pieces! Maybe you can be part of the answer on the donation link!

In the past few weeks I have shared some BIG questions about some BIG missing pieces. The Opportunity Zone for EquipUs is very large! Yet, none of that is a problem to our BIG God Who can answer with things beyond our imaginations! (see Ephesians 3:20-21) We just need to keep offering BIG prayers!

Soli Deo Gloria!
