Can't Imagine What's In a Name

what's in a nameWhat’s in a name can be easy to see if it’s something we comprehend. We understand names like Shepherd or Master. But what about names we really don’t comprehend? What’s in a name, God’s name, can be indescribable.
Glorious and Holy are together alphabetically and they are connected in deeper ways. Neither term defines God; He defines them. Glorious is what He is. Holy is what He is. We have trouble with these names because we aren’t either one. These names point to the awe and mystery that surrounds our Father. He is totally different than anything we know. Our existence is within the realm of sin. He is outside of sin and that is something we can imagine, but we cannot truly comprehend what that means.
God, infinite in holiness, offers sinful people forgiveness and salvation and that is truly something glorious! Please notice the references for each of these names contains the other. He is glorious in holiness. Enjoy the Scriptures, and let your prayers and praises be inspired by His indescribable glory and holiness. And be at peace with the fact that ‘We can’t imagine‘ is part of what’s in a Name!

Soli Deo Gloria!
