Concealed Carry Or Open Carry?

What does the term concealed carry have to do with Christian living? Actually, quite a lot! Here’s my ‘I dare you’ proposition: The next time you are in a group of people just work the term concealed carry into the conversation. See what happens. When the chatter subsides, let the group know you weren’t referencing firearms – and neither am I! Read on. Apply these principles for yourself and you can even adapt this post for sharing!

Concealed Carry And Believers

Did you know you do NOT have a right to concealed carry? Why? Because slaves don’t have rights of any kind! And by now you are wondering if I have lost my mind? Keep reading! ephesians 3-20 A

One of my favorite verses Ephesians 3:20, tells us:

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we can ask  or imagine, according to the power that works in you.

God’s power is in you. The Bible also tells us we are either slaves to sin or slaves to righteousness. As slaves to righteousness we are carriers of His power. The only question is this:

Is His power concealed or is it evident to all?

Christ is at work in you for His own purposes. And His power must be revealed in us if we are to reach our generation with the Gospel. We carry His power to do His work. What is His work? One statement is found in Isaiah 61:1-2a –

Proclaim good news to the poor, bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim freedom for captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, and proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor…

Matthew 5-18That’s what I’d call mandate material! Why? In John 20:21 Jesus said we are sent as He was sent. So His agenda is to be our agenda. But we won’t do very well unless we are committed to ‘open carry.’ Jesus said it this way:

Let your light so shine before men that they see your good works and glorify your Father Who is in heaven!

Think about it!

Soli Deo Gloria!

I have to admit, you got my attention because I do conceal carry at times. Unfortunately I have been guilty of conceal carry when it comes to the gospel too! Good analogy!
