Equipping for Life

Transitions – EquipUs Announcement!

What do new opportunities and ministry growth have in common? Answer: Change. We often react negatively to change. But growth can’t occur without it! Let’s think in terms of transitions.

This is our Father’s world and it is filled with transitions. Day turns to night and night into day. We see the beauty of Summer transitioning to Fall. And you won’t have to look hard to find a cocoon – caterpillars will transition into next Spring’s butterflies. Even ancient philosophers recognized the ever-present idea of transitions. It may surprise you to know it was about 500 B.C. when the Greek philosopher Heraclitus first said: The only thing that is constant is change.

Now, we know our Father is the true Constant in eternity and He doesn’t change. But many things in His creation do. And that includes our labors for His Kingdom. A history of God’s servants shows many transitions. Abram became Abraham. Sarai became Sarah. Jacob became Israel. And Saul became Paul. New names marked new beginnings because God was at work.

I remember a transition from local church ministry to R.O.W. You were there, and helped turn possibilities into reality. Thousands of lives have been changed because we made that transition together. Then R.O.W. transitioned to Mission: Hope. That transition also brought new Kingdom opportunities. Again, we worked together to see those possibilities realized.

And now my work through Mission: Hope and Keith Burnett Ministries is transitioning to EquipUs Inc. Formally, and legally, it’s a new entity. The equipping and mission work we are doing will continue. But this transition presents the opportunity to see it greatly expanded! So, please don’t think of this as a simple, small name change. It is much more! What has gone before wouldn’t have been possible without many helping hands. And the new opportunities before EquipUs will be realized in the same way.

I see God working in this transition. And like all the transitions in our lives, our Father guides us to them and through them. But while He authors the change, He comforts us with His unchanging presence, care, love, provision and protection. Anything and everything can change, but He does not. That gives us peace in the changes. But peace doesn’t mean we don’t have to work hard! So…

This is just the opening ‘statement’ in our Transitions Series. People have already stepped up to help. But many helping hands are needed. I’ll be sending you information (and invitations!) on very necessary Transition Teams. And the first will be our Transition Prayer Team. You can go ahead and start that now! Opportunities for, and info on, other teams will follow. But let’s start at the best place in the best way: on our knees. Then, keep an eye on your mailbox and your inbox! There is a great deal more to come.

Soli Deo Gloria!
