Behold, He is coming! Every eye will see Him from Belize to Baghdad and from Austria to Australia. The cloud took Him up from the disciples and the angels who were present said He would come again in the same manner. He will come riding on the clouds! Think about the majesty of that scene.
Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty, covering Yourself with light as with a cloak, stretching out heaven like a tent curtain. He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters; He makes the clouds His chariot; He walks upon the wings of the wind; He makes the winds His messengers, flaming fire His ministers. Riding On The Clouds – Belize
Do we say every cloud has a silver lining? Do we look at those figurative clouds in a positive light? Or do we talk about the clouds ‘raining’ on our parade? When we face adversity, we tend to think about it in terms of clouds. This is pretty simple, and yet the example we see is also profound. The Lover of our souls can ride the winds and stand firm on a wispy cloud.
Whether those winds and clouds are literal or figurative, He can cause them to serve His purposes.
How often do we fret over the clouds in our lives? Which is more difficult: to ride a cumulus chariot or command the clouds in your life? To us, both are impossible. To Him, neither is a challenge. That’s the point. Look at the verses above. What do you see?
Do you just see words describing the majesty of God? Of course, that’s true. Look deeper. I see a person who has set aside a portion of the day to spend time with the One Who loves him. Furthermore, I see a love letter to the Savior. I see someone bragging on the greatness of their God. I see the work of the Spirit so inspiring those words that God preserved them in Scripture.
A pastor in Belize once asked me where the verses are that talk about God riding on the clouds. I really don’t know why he asked about it. I promised him I would have as many answers as possible when I see him the next day. This is one of the answers I gave him.
