and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8

An Open Letter

Dear Friends,

Grace and peace to you. Believers are sent as Jesus was sent – As the Father sent Me, so send I you, John 20:21. That is the Great Commission. It includes making disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19-20) as well as being witnesses all over the world (Acts 1:8). It is a great blessing to see our Father at work reaching out to people from every nation, tribe and tongue. That’s because His mission is people. Furthermore, His method is people – folks just like you and me.

In response to this, I am answering God’s call to be part of an EquipUs mission team that will travel to San Pedro Columbia, Belize, February 22-29. God is at work there and we want to join Him in that work. The team will do construction work with a local church, begin a new cycle of teaching for the EquipUs Pastor Training School, and equip/encourage local believers in the ministry God has given them. We’ll also identify projects for future mission teams – things like sports evangelism, Vacation Bible Schools, Women’s Ministry Bible studies and training, evangelism crusades, and medical missions/training. We are praying for lives to be transformed through the power of the Holy Spirit, and for lost people to find a relationship with Jesus Christ.

As we pray for God’s blessing on this upcoming mission, I invite you to become a part of our team. There are two primary ways you can join hands with us. First, you can pray. Prayer is the single most important element for the success of any mission endeavor. He is the Vine, we are the branches, and apart from Him we can do nothing. Therefore, I ask that you pray for this mission work to accomplish God’s purposes…that lives will be drawn to Him…and, especially, I ask that you be a daily personal prayer partner for me from now until we return home.

Second Item

Another important way to join hands with us is to participate financially. All ministry requires resources. And even a cup of water given in Jesus’ name does not go unnoticed or unrewarded! In addition to the contributions made by mission team members, substantial financial support will be needed to accomplish the work God has planned. We are raising support as a team, and I invite you to give generously to help make this mission effort possible. Together we can impact the future because our work will launch a new ministry cycle in this part of Belize and it is expected to last 5-6 years! As we entrust the Gospel to faithful men, they will entrust it to others and the Kingdom will continue to expand (see II Timothy 2:2). So, the financial support is a critical element of the mission.
