Ken Bonner Memorial Scholarship

Many readers will recognize FWT, but only some knew Ken Bonner. I have used FWT in attempts to thank those who make our ministry possible. This term was part of the presentations at our Equip Us Launch events. And now, it is how I choose to honor a friend.

Ken Bonner – Equipping For Life

Equipping For Life is our ministry tagline. And it is something Ken did with his spiritual gifts. I’ll have more to say about that in the next post. Ken was a Fellow Worker in the Truth (FWT) on many levels. John the Apostle referred to his friend Gaius as a fellow worker in the Truth. And what John said (III John) about Gaius could equally be said of Ken. And that, too, will be part of the next post.

Ken BonnerFor this post, we simply want to share the wishes of Ken and his family. Those who knew Ken are aware he ran the race set before him – see Hebrews 12:1. Ken crossed the finish line this past Sunday evening. We are left with the sorrow of parting while simultaneously being comforted with the knowledge that Ken is now better than he has ever been. Please pray for his family.

Ken was a gifted Bible teacher. And it was his desire to be a mission volunteer and lend his gift to our international pastor training ministry. We spoke about it many times but it never materialized – mostly for health reasons. But Ken helped in other ways as all FWT types do. And even in his passing from this life, he desired to continue supporting this ministry.

With the permission of Ken and his family, we are pleased and proud to announce the establishment of the Ken Bonner Memorial Scholarship Fund. The purpose is to assist pastors in volunteering to help us train other pastors. Mission volunteers fund their own work. And for some pastors (and their churches), the cost is a big challenge. Ken can’t teach with us, but he wanted to do what he could to help others go and equip for life.

Donations – Ken Bonner Memorial

Contributions to this fund can be handled as follows:

  • Make checks payable to Equip Us Inc.
  • PO 803 Scottsboro, AL 35768

There will be a new, dedicated Equip Us website up soon. For now, we are using our existing site (this one). So please check back here often.

The Board of Directors unanimously voted to establish this fund in memory and honor of Ken. And the Board will approve procedures for fund administration.

This post is primarily an announcement. It is not the sum of what I’d like to share in honor of our friend, Ken. I’ll attempt that in the next post. But I’d like to close this post with thanksgiving. I am thankful for Ken, and so many others like him, who understand that ministry is something God gave to the Church – all of us; together – and it is best accomplished as Fellow Workers engage the Truth. Ken did that. And that knowledge will certainly be part of our Thanksgiving Day celebration this week ed-italia.com.
