Abraham

Abraham Meets Melchizedek

Melchizedek, the King of Salem, was worshiped by Abraham. Several interesting things are recorded in Genesis 14. Overall, Abraham encounters 10 kings in this chapter. Nine of those kings were at war with each other. Abraham’s meeting with the tenth King is instructional on many levels.
In this chapter we learn another of God’s names. We also see how God prepared and protected His servant for his eventual meeting with the king of Sodom.

There is an entire series of resources on the life of Abraham. And I think the study of his life is of tremendous value to us. Why? He is known for his faith. But that faith had to grow. In other words, his steps of  faith were faltering and shaky. He got better and great faith eventually characterized his life. And isn’t that how we are? Don’t we often take one step forward and two back? Studying Abraham’s journey should encourage all of us and I hope you find that to be true.
Please continue to pray for the ongoing website makeover. As for this post, see it as a test. I have refrained from posting live sermons on the site as it is. The new site will have a spot for resources like this. So, take a listen and then do something very helpful. If you find this sermon on Abraham to be helpful/inspiring/instructional or whatever, please drop me an email or post a comment below. I am always happy to hear from readers. And in this case, your feedback will provide more than encouragement.

Soli Deo Gloria!
