Satan is the master of illusions. And this Share Project video addresses one of those deceptions. Did you notice the change of words? An illusion can be something very entertaining. But a deception is another matter. It is deceit with the intent to harm. And don’t we all know the first step to avoiding the harm of deception is to see it and call it what it is? That’s what Stan does in this video. There is a link at the end of the post so you can copy, paste, and share just the video in other platforms.

Illusions – A Share Project Video

Illusion? Deception? Still a LIE!

Have you ever been entertained by a good card or magic trick? We have seen pretty amazing things by people like David Copperfied and other illusionists. Another famous magician was Harry Houdini. And while illusions on stage can be very entertaining, real-life illusions can be very harmful. I think the most damaging of them all is the idea that you or I are in control of our own lives. We are not. And the sooner we come to grips with that truth, the better our lives will be. Let me explain.

Genesis 2 :16-17 tells us Adam and Eve were created with freedom of choice. They could choose obedience to God which is doing good. Or they could choose disobedience which is doing evil. They chose disobedience. And according to Genesis 3:16-19, their choice affected all of their descendants. That includes you and me. Their sinful disobedience brought death into the world and corrupted Man’s nature to be evil in every aspect. If we are left to our corrupt nature, we will always choose opposition to God in every decision. That’s a pretty bleak picture! But Scripture lets us know a new nature is possible. How is that? John 1:12-13 tells us:

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

Did you catch that? As many as received Him. How is that possible? Ephesians chapter 2:8-9 gives us the answer

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Grace Is Amazing!Grace changes everything

Let me tell you just one reason those verses are so amazing. The decisions we make day-to-day will not always be bad, but they will always be anti-God. Yet, our Creator loves us too much to leave us without hope. We can’t change our corrupt nature on our own, but His loving gift of grace can do what we could never do. And without His gift of grace, our own efforts will never be enough for us to see, approach or enter God’s heaven. The path to heaven is only found in a Person. We see that in John  14:6 –

Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

That is the loving gift of grace and Truth. Otherwise, we are doomed to a life that is nothing more than a slave march to Satan’s death camp and there is no hope of escape.

So, we know about our corrupt nature and God’s grace. But we haven’t looked at what made it possible.

Illusions dispelled by love of ChristGod entered into human history and took on the payment for the sins and sin nature that is man’s. This is what Jesus did. He did what no man could or would do. He lived a sinless life, always choosing obedience to God the Father, and died on a cross as a perfect sacrifice to appease God’s righteous judgment on Man’s sin. And that makes it possible to enter into His presence and heaven and eternal joy. Some people dismiss this idea as nonsense. It speaks to the hearts of others. Notice what else we read in John 6:

Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst. “But I said to you that you have seen Me, and yet do not believe. All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.

And just a few verses later we see

No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. It is written in the prophets, AND THEY SHALL ALL BE TAUGHT OF GOD. Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me.

See Through Illusions

Are you hearing and learning through this message? Know this

God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.

So I urge you to respond in faith. Let this be the day you turn from an old, corrupt, sinful life to a new life of trust in God’s promises of eternal Truth and love. Part of that is His indwelling presence in His new creation – you! This is your new destiny if you choose to respond. And respond you must if God is calling you. You must not delay, you must respond.

Romans chapter 10:9-10 tells you how to respond

If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

So I invite you. Respond to Him. Show your confession of belief in Jesus by turning from sin. Turn to Jesus and be saved and you will have eternal life with God where all joy resides.

Soli Deo Gloria!
