Equipping 2020 – you have made this possible and you need to know how well it is going. There is a reason we are familiar with old sayings. And in this case, the old saying is:
A picture is worth a thousand words.
The majority of this post/report is provided by Stan and Marv. But the cover picture is one of my all-time favorites. I can’t count the times I’ve reminded pastors, supporters, and contributors that this ministry entrusts the Gospel to faithful men who will entrust it to others (II Timothy 2:2). And my goal for our summer syllabus was unique.
We put together leading questions and follow-up questions on essential Biblical subjects. The idea was to equip all the church leaders to deal with these questions in their own churches and ministry areas. But my intent was for our teachers to facilitate discussions so everyone could engage, contribute to the Q & A, and thereby expand the course syllabus as a ministry resource that will serve far into the future. That is happening and the picture (there are others!) is proof. Thank you for making this possible.
And now, here are a few thoughts from Stan and Marv. Both now serve on the Board of Directors of EquipUs. Like you, these faithful men continue to be a blessing to me, this ministry, and many others!

Keith, I have to tell you how exciting it was on Monday to be present through Zoom in both Tomayo and Batey 6 for the Pastor Training School.
First, it was so nice to see the smiling faces of our friends in the Barahona, Dominican Republic area. I really miss being with these outstanding men and women. Second, I was certainly pleased with the attendance. With all the Covid concerns I wondered if the attendance would be negatively affected. But I counted at least 20 in Tomayo.
In Batey 6, I couldn’t see the whole area, but attendance looked great. Third, their enthusiasm was easily seen and even felt. I could see the participation in Tomayo, as different attendees were speaking. In Batey 6, I could hear the enthusiasm of Pastor Ramon as he taught. Since we cannot be there for the Pastor Training School, it’s fantastic that the training can continue. I thank our God who makes all things possible. – Marv Barney
Equipping 2020 – Stan Bramlett
Monday I had the opportunity to participate in, what for me was a first: teaching remotely in a foreign language and country. In view of the restrictions on travel with the Coronavirus we were unable to participate in person in the D.R. So, Keith set it up with some of the local talent to conduct the in person teaching and we were tied in through a Zoom conference call.
It was encouraging, awe inspiring and humbling to see these men of God gather together under a local teacher from within their group. While I could not understand a word that was said, I could see the expressions, laughter, questions asked, and enthusiasm from everyone present. I found myself wishing I could understand Spanish so I could learn as well.
For all of us who teach, it is tremendously encouraging to see a student progress to teacher when you have had a small hand in their development. This is one picture of the purpose of the church: to develop people to impact the kingdom.
This was the pattern Jesus’ used to develop 12 men who then went out and changed the world. As this multiplication takes place in the D.R., it will become what the prophet spoke of in Isaiah 2:2-3 –
It shall come to pass in the latter days the the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills and all the nations shall flow to it and many peoples shall come, and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.”
In a nutshell, this is what EquipUs is all about. While this was a teaching moment, there are many opportunities of equal importance and anyone can join in. I encourage anyone reading this brief note to seriously consider a trip with us in the future (after the virus fears have subsided) to see and participate in the ministry. I guarantee that you will return a changed man or woman from what you see. – Stanley H. Bramlett
